Gathering the family together for the holidays is pretty much essential in my household. Even though there’s 8 of us here year-round, I’ve always believed: the more the merrier! 🙂 Growing up, I wasn’t able to experience much consistency. So any way I can provide this for my home is super important. Nearly every Christmas turns into a winter family photo session whether my husband, kids or relatives like it or not!
Remembering the moments we share together helps each of us appreciate what we have and those that have played a role in who we’ve become. Every family is different and nobody is perfect. So no matter the differences or beliefs, we should never take for granted our ability to get together during the holidays.

Taking Winter Pictures With a Special Family.
With that being said, I wanted to share the pictures of a client that really blessed my heart. Over the past few years, they’ve been through a lot. This holiday season was very special to them for a number of reasons. So before talking about their winter family photo session, I want to talk a little bit about how we became introduced.
I first met this momma a few years ago when she reached out to me about photographing her daughter, Bailey, for a celebration party. My first thought was that Cristi needed help with a graduation event or birthday party. But it was nothing of the sort. Her daughter had been battling cancer since she was a tiny baby.

The Family's Story is Worth Celebrating.
After immense tribulation and radiation therapy, Bailey was finally cancer-free! Initially, hearing the family’s story was heartbreaking. But it has been so inspiring to witness their refusal to live in the past and enjoy today. Their little girl’s health and life was definitely worth celebrating – and I was touched to be a part of it. I’ve been photographing them ever since!
Bailey has been beating the odds by remaining strong and thriving in these past couple years. So you can imagine how special their recent winter family photos session was. The Martin’s are a loving and extremely strong unit who are now influencing others to be the same.

They’ve changed so much since we first met and you can tell they’re absolutely adored in the community. They constantly receive a ton of support and admiration. God has blessed them and I’m truly blessed to now be a part of their lives. All they had to do was tell me when and where for their winter family photo session.
What the Martin Family Had to Say:
“Danielle was patient and very kind when photographing my kids. She made sure they were comfortable with her before snapping away. Quick turn around for pictures. Amazing quality and customer service.”

Don’t Be Cold in Olive Branch This Winter.
Even if things aren’t going in your favor this holiday season, family is always worth celebrating. Gratitude for life and being together is something the Martin family helped me appreciate a lot more. With everything going on before Christmas, it can be easy to lose sight of things.
In Northern Mississippi, it may not be very appealing to capture outdoor pictures this time of year – but it can still be a lot of fun! OK maybe not haha. Either way, finding something to do that can strengthen the bond of your unit will always keep you warm.

Whether you hire a photographer for a winter family session or not, gathering everyone together for a couple snapshots is never a bad idea. Even if you set something up inside. Looking back, you’ll be glad you did. Most everyone has been affected by cancer in some sort of way. So use this story to fuel you this holiday season.
